Job Description

This hospice is a leading provider that delivers skilled and expert compassionate care to support patients with life-limiting conditions. The hospice has twenty-eight private rooms split across two floors with en-suite facilities promoting privacy to their patients and offering a home from home environment for family to visit.

This is working Monday Friday (no night shifts).

The ward manager will create, lead and be responsible for maintaining a nursing culture which is open to change, new ideas, concepts and innovation. You will be working in conjunction with the Head of Inpatient Services and uphold responsibility for the safe management and security of the inpatient unit and deputise as appropriate for the Head of Inpatient services.

What we are looking for

At least 5 years in palliative care or oncology/haematology experience and are now wanting to work within the field of palliative care
The successful candidate will have some leadership and management experience at a band level 6 who would like to join our passionate team to deliver excellent quality care to patients
A leader to provide inspirational and motivational clinical leadership to the team of nurses in order to support the delivery of high-quality nursing care. You will act as a clinical role model to junior staff and working collaboratively with the multi-professional team

Competencies required for the role:

Communicate effectively at every level within the organisation
Directly line manages the band 6 Sisters/Charge Nurses and agreed administrative staff and provide support and direction maintaining overall accountability.
Investigate complaints and concerns positively and proactively as directed by the Head of Inpatient services by using analytical and judgement skills
