The Addictions Care Team provides integrated 24/7 clinically effective, efficient and high quality care to patients at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust who are affected by substance misuse.
Our service also includes the Addictions Clinical Care Suite that provides elective admissions for complex substance misuse management. This aspect of the service accepts referrals from community substance misuse teams from across the 32 boroughs of London. 24/7 Specialist Care provision.
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning and provision of specialist Addictions nursing advice and carries out specialist nursing procedures. The post holder will provide clinical supervision to other staff, students and may undertake research, lead clinical audits in own specialist area. Ensuring the safety and well-being of service users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centered care principles.

Main duties of the job
An exciting 12 Months Fixed/Secondment opportunity has arisen for an Addictions Deputy Clinical Nurse Specialist, to join our well-established Addictions Care Team.
This is an exciting time to join the team as we have expanded to include a new innovative 24hrs/7 day’s inpatients GSTT Addiction Clinical Care Suite (ACCS) . The ACCS admits patients requiring medically assisted withdrawal / stabilisation from drugs and / or alcohol. The post holder will be expected to work across Addictions Care Team (ACT) and Addictions Clinical Care Suite (ACCS) a service that provides 24hr care. The role will involve working a shift pattern of Long Days, Weekends, Bank Holidays and Nights.
The post-holder will need to be a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) and or a Registered General Nurse (RGN), with a passion and commitment for working with patients who use or misuse alcohol and drugs. It’s essential for the post holder to have some relevant experience either in acute hospital setting or the community of managing patients affected by alcohol and drugs who require treatment including detoxification.
The role will provide comprehensive alcohol and drugs holistic assessments, delivering brief /extended interventions, harm minimisation, psychosocial interventions, monitoring & supervising inpatients detoxification, liaison with family/carers and external community substance misuse services, including other health and social care professionals…
